Stand Tall
The training programme that nurtures confidence, clarity and connection.
Move beyond management and start enjoying life with your dog.
The world is full of dog training advice. Here’s why it’s not working for your dog.
Google, social media and AI chatbots do not know your dog. Neither does Nigel down the road who has owned dogs all his life.
The last thing you need is to be following tips and tricks that don’t take your dog’s personality, learning style, health, genetic traits and fulfilment needs into account. What you do need is a clear plan put together by someone who takes time to understand them, and prioritises your dog’s needs as well as your own.
The Grow, Bloom, Stand Tall programme is designed for exactly that: to work with you and your dog and meet you where you’re currently at. Time will be taken to ensure we build strong foundations, implement the things they find fulfilling and ways you can have fun together, and apply everything you learn into the real world. This is done at a pace that fully supports your own learning as well as your dog’s, where we focus on making sure you are both confident in yourselves and your partnership.
The programme is suitable for all dogs, whether you have a new puppy and want to set them up for success from the beginning, or are dealing with more complex behaviours such as reactivity, anxiety, lead pulling and problems with recall.

This is where we really get started with putting your personalised training plan to action, working together to get you on your way to where you want to be.
The promise isn’t to fix your dog in 8 weeks. It’s to set you both up to keep moving in the right direction.
My full support with every step.
Together, we outline a path forward that’s realistic, strategic, and tailored to your specific needs.
A “no stupid questions” policy
The programme is all about you learning as well as your dog. Ask as many questions as you need to without any judgement from me.
Honesty
In order for this to work, we need to be honest with each other. Struggling in silence doesn’t get you anywhere, nor does me trying to protect your feelings if it means your dog’s progress will suffer.
Your dog’s welfare put first
Your dog’s happiness is at the heart of every decision that goes into planning their training.

Roo
-
I met Roo about a year into my dog training career when she came to train with me under a different company. Being a Labrador, you would expect her to be an easy-going girl, but that’s far from the reality. She was a bit all over the place with very little engagement with her humans unless there was food or a ball to bribe her with. She made a lot of silly decisions by herself which often meant ignoring her owners and taking matters into her own paws.
None of this was to do with her being badly trained before coming to me. She and her owners just needed the right support.
Roo’s journey hasn’t been a straightforward one. There has been a lot to work on, most prominently the confidence of her owners and helping them all feel more connected. In addition, my own knowledge as a trainer when I first met them was much more limited, alongside being confined by the way things were done where I was working at the time.
Progress was being made with Roo’s behaviour, but there was still something missing.
Since opening Sunflower K9 in April 2026 with Roo’s owners wanting to continue working with me, I decided to approach things from a different, more handler-focused angle. I’ve been able to give them much more in-person support in 1:1 sessions and more time to play around with training techniques in Walk & Trains, and the results really show.
Not only does Roo genuinely enjoy spending time with her humans, whether it’s going on walks, training, or playing, her owners have become much more confident handlers who enjoy spending time with their dog.
While we still have a few last bits to really crack, Roo’s case has been a hugely valuable learning curve for me and has shown me the importance of looking at the bigger picture; not just the dog. This is why the Grow, Bloom, Stand Tall programme places emphasis on building your confidence as a handler by breaking training sessions down as much as you need me to, in addition to supporting your journey outside of sessions as well as during them.
Lila
-
Lila is my first dog, and was a true baptism of fire into dog ownership. I always assumed getting a dog would be like something out of a Disney film, but she was nothing like I expected my first do be like.
Being a rescue dog from Romania, it would’ve been too easy to excuse Lila’s behaviour because of her past. But the reality is I have no idea what she went through before she came to me, and it didn’t help to dwell on what might have happened when I would never know the answer. I’d made the commitment of rescuing her, so it was my responsibility to show her how great life could be.
Initially, I wanted Lila to be many things: friendly with people and dogs, able to do sports and go anywhere and everywhere with me as just a few examples. What I didn’t consider was that some of the things I wanted her to be or wanted from her just weren’t there, and no amount of training could change that. Admittedly, there were times I resented her. It was a very hard pill to swallow, but once I started accepting her for who she is, things changed massively.
We’ve been able to achieve a lot over the years, but the way we got there wasn’t as easy as I thought it would be, and at times they seemed impossible. I made a lot of mistakes by trying things that I thought were right, but ended up limiting her success and causing more problems in the long run. I learned that I had to address her behaviour was by adapting my approach based on her traits, learning style, and working at a pace that suited her. I built a communication system that was clear and worked for us both, adopted a “take every day as it comes” approach, and found ways to fulfil her and give her outlets for her natural drives.
Lila is now a joy to be around and I couldn’t have been more blessed to have her as my first dog. She often comes out with me and helps in 1:1 sessions as well as making appearances on group walks and at scentwork classes.
Grow, Bloom, Stand Tall is all about learning to love your dog for who they are and accepting that it’s ok that they may not be what we’d envisioned. Stop wishing they were different and start moving forwards.
She may not have been the dog I wanted, but she is absolutely the dog I needed.
Molly
-
Molly and her owner were also clients of mine before I set up my own business. When I first met them, they were mainly looking for help with her recall and lead walking as she absolutely loved to pull across fields to say hello to other dogs. When looking at the bigger picture, it became very clear that Molly struggled with regulating her emotions, and her arousal would go from 0 to 100 in a split second.
On paper, Molly is a very trainable dog, but is also extremely sensitive to the environment and changes within it. This has made her progress a little slower than I initially thought it would, but not for lack of trying or her owner putting in the work. Due to her sensitivities, it’s been a case of taking every day as it comes and making sure everything we’ve asked of her is achievable.
Sometimes, it’s meant slowing right down and taking a moment to breathe. As a dog whose brain can move at a million miles an hour, the last thing she’s needed is constant excitement and to move fast.
Molly’s owner has admitted to me that there have been times it felt like they weren’t making progress, but would look back at where they started and the improvement was undeniable.
And that’s just it. Dog training can be extremely frustrating and overwhelming at times, regardless of whether you’re working on the basics or more complex behavioural issues. It’s not a linear process. It’s so important for us to take a step back and give ourselves credit for all the work we’re putting in, as well as to look at how far we’ve come.
Over time Molly has learned to regulate herself much better, and is turning into an extremely well-rounded young lady. She no longer pulls to get to other dogs, and her neutrality has even improved to the extent I’ve been able to use her to stooge in client sessions. She can settle out in public and her confidence is improving day in and day out.
Whatever journey you begin through the Grow, Bloom, Stand Tall programme, there will always be times where I ask you to slow down and focus on the now, rather than what might be up ahead or where you went wrong before. If we’re constantly worrying about tomorrow or what happened yesterday, we won’t have time to enjoy today.
