Mission & Values
Sunflower K9 grew from my own experiences of having a “difficult” dog. The reality is that I didn’t understand her properly.
Every dog grows in their own unique way, and will bloom when given the right support and guidance; striking the perfect balance between nature and nurture.
At Sunflower K9, I honour the individuality of every dog and human. Dog behaviour is not just a problem to be fixed, but something to be understood and addressed by considering your dog as a whole - from their genetic instincts to their individual characteristics and overall health and wellbeing.
My biggest goal is to empower dog owners and their dogs through effective relationship-based training that prioritises mutual trust, confidence and clear communication; helping you both grow through harmony and connection from the roots upwards.
Having ended up with a dog who didn’t fit the societal archetype of how a dog should be, I want to provide a safe space for other pet dog owners that feel the same way and give them the guidance and support they were never given.
Training Methods
Every dog learns differently from the next. This is why every dog’s training journey with me doesn’t look the same.
My training methods vary based on each dog I work with as every dog needs a personalised approach. What may work for one dog may not work as well if at all for the next.
I always aim to use the least intrusive methods where possible, and always prioritise relationship and communication through building play skills, training with food, and fulfilment activities as part of the behaviour modification process. The goal is for training to be enjoyable as well as practical and successful for everyone involved.
Am I the right trainer for you?
I can help you if:
✿ You’re feeling overwhelmed or embarrassed by your dog’s behaviour, and want to make a change.
✿ You want to become a more confident handler and improve your relationship with your dog.
✿ You come into this process with an open mind and are prepared to try something new.
✿ You are willing to put work in every day and make changes where needed.
✿ You communicate with me and don’t struggle in silence.
I can’t help you if:
✖️ You want a quick fix.
✖️ You want me to do all the work for you.
✖️ You refuse to try new approaches or methods.
✖️ You excuse your dog’s behaviour or lack of progress because you “don’t have time.”
✖️ You don’t communicate with me.
